Abstract
A new method for reconstructing 3D root architecture of field-grown maize was developed through integrating the spatial deployment of maize axile roots determined by digitizing in situ in the field with geometrical and topological information of scanned lateral roots. Spatial root length density and other root traits of maize can be estimated basing on this integrated method.
