Abstract
A Monte Carlo ray tracing model for simulation of waveform recording LiDAR data was developed. Species-specific waveform characteristics in real data were accuratelyreproduced in simulations. The model was used to study the effects of sensorparameters on vegetation classification performance. Effect of LiDAR footprint could be shown.
