Abstract

A biomass-based model of leaf geometric parameters of rapeseed was developed, and the effects of cultivars and environmental conditions on rapeseed leaf morphogenesis were considered through the connection to rapeseed growth model via biomass.

Hongxin Cao  studied a Bachelor of Science (Agronomy), and a Master of Science
(Crop Cultivation and Tillage)  graduating in 1985 and 1988  from  the  former The Northwestern Agricultural University, China. He obtained a Ph.D in Agronomy from The University of Nanjing Agriculture Chinese  in 1997. After gaining experience in crop  quality  cultivation  and as an  associated professor  in finance his  career focus returned to applying statistics to agriculture science, in particular  crop models. He
worked as an  associated professor and a professor  at The  Institute  of Crop Science Research, Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences from 1999 to 2004 in the area of crop modelling to understand the phenomenon of genotype by environment
interaction in wheat cultivation. From 1988 to 1999 he was an associated lecturer and a lecturer of crop cultivation at the former The Ningxia Agricultural College. Also in 2000 and from 2009 to 2010 he was a Visiting Academic at The International Maize
and Wheat Improvement Center, and The University of Queensland, respectively. From 2004 until the present he has been employed as a professor and an associated director  by  The  Institute  of Agricultural Resources and Environment,  Institute of
Agricultural Economics and Information / Engineering Center for Digital Agriculture, Jiangsu  Academy of Agricultural Sciences  (JAAS),  China  to develop  crop growth models,  and  morphological models, etc.  He is a  stand director and associated secretary-general of the Computer Sub-Association of China Agriculture Association of Science Society,  a stand director of Jiangsu Province Agriculture Association of Science  Society, a director  of China Remote Sensing Application  Association, a supervisor for postdoctoral station of JAAS, an  advisor  for  postgraduate  in The
University of Nanjing Agriculture and The University of Yangzhou, and a member of Editorial Board of Agricultural Sciences in China,  Editorial Board of  Jiangsu Journal of  Agricultural Sciences, and  Special Interest Group on Advanced Information Processing in Agriculture of International Federation for Information Processing.
